{A Super Tuesday Hangover}

Happy Wednesday! I really got into watching the primary coverage yesterday, so much so that I wound up falling asleep on the couch and waking up there at about 3:30 this morning. Hubby was out in the chair, so I decided to just make a night of it. I guess we’re still news geeks.

Img_1202Hmmm...what can I say about
PLAY? Probably that it was the best time I think I’ve had at a retreat. And that’s saying a lot. For one thing, it was a concentration on journals, and that’s my first love. For another, we could leave our stuff spread out on a table and not have to lug it back and forth every day. It was really cold, but I enjoyed the change. I also enjoyed getting away from Phoenix during Super Bowl weekend, which is my most UN-favorite weekend of the whole year.

I got to know some familiar faces better, catch up with some I’ve known from past retreats and also meet some contributors from 1000 Artist Journal Pages. I got to really review the work of Fran Meneley, who is in the book. Lovely stuff! Renee was a great traveling companion...she drove so I got to sit back and enjoy the scenery. We hit the Japanese bookstore, Churchmouse Yarns and Teas which she had never been to, and she took me to Poulsbo, which I had never seen. SUCH a cute town! We picked up some yummy pastries at a bakery there...

Our housemates were wonderful: Jill from Georgia was a kick...can’t wait to see her at Artfest. Sherri was rarely in our house, but she was such a sweetheart. A journaling newbie, she stayed out journaling late every night and was so jazzed about it. She exuded so much joyous energy! We got to sit near our Phoenix friends Vynnie, Steve, Cindy and Gary, Bainbridge’s Jennifer Louden, and Liesel Lund from Seattle. She does pattern design for Tommy Bahama, so it was cool to compare “design” notes with her.

Of course, our hosts Teesha and Tracy Moore are really two of the most generous people I’ve ever met. They brought a ton of their OWN supplies for us to have fun with and shared so much information and inspiration. They have no idea how truly wonderful they are. I can’t thank them enough.

I didn’t go out on the beach this time. I just didn’t think my body could take the cold breeze! Renee confirmed it when she went out there and upon returning told me I had made the right decision. It was supposed to snow Saturday night, but it didn’t. I would have loved to have seen snowfall. It’s so peaceful.

I took four of my journals and finished up many pages and started some others. So I will show them over a period of several days...I’m still trying to get back in the swing of things...I’ve got some laundry to finish and I still need to unpack some of my supplies and the goodies I brought back, which I will show as well.

Have a GREAT day!
