I wanted to talk a little more about the CREATE retreat being held by Cloth Paper Scissors in Chicago, Aug. 25-29.
I’ll be teaching two classes: Passport to Journal and Doodle Soup.
Passport to Journal is going to be a six-hour workshop focused on travel journaling using the Pages in Stages approach I’ve been writing about in CPS. We’ll be making an easy peasy journal, then filling it with all sorts of goodness. We’ll go over different techniques I use for backgrounds, collage, and doodling/journaling. We’ll also discuss how to travel with your journal, ie, what to pack, etc.
The second class is a three-hour workshop called Doodle Soup, loosely based on my upcoming book, Doodle Diary: Art Journaling for Girls. The class will be a primer on doodling. I’m even going to create a chapbook/workbook for it, which I’m really excited about. You’ll learn ways to jumpstart the doodling process, what pens I like to use, writing techniques, and more. It’s gonna be a blast!
I’m also going to be a vendor at the art fair Friday night. I’ll be selling my handmade journals, copies of Doodle Diary, and other fun stuff! If you live in the Chicago area, you really should sign up for workshops...And if you’re somewhere in the Midwest and never get to go to retreats because they’re on opposite ends of the country, now’s your chance! So many wonderful workshops offered by so many AWESOME teachers!
